A polished new website for Flame UK

Out with the old, in with the new.

Based in Nottingham, Flame UK is one of the UK’s leading independent waste management specialists. The company prides itself on finding sustainable solutions for any type of commercial waste. It has a growing reputation for cutting clients’ costs, improving efficiency, ensuring legal compliance and increasing recycling rates.


Careful planning.

Flame UK asked us to build a new corporate website. Straightforward enough at first glance, but this was a complex task involving a lot of careful thought and planning. First, we worked closely with Flame to establish exactly what they wanted the website to achieve. They were keen to promote the wide range of waste management services their company offers to many different sectors.


A bespoke website structure.

This led us to a fresh structure, with a large number of new pages to showcase each type of waste which Flame UK can handle, the opportunities to recycle and the numerous industries the company supports. We wanted to draw in people searching for specific waste management solutions, and then to encourage them to explore further by promoting other parts of the website.


Eye-catching design.

We also ensured the website looked the part, with creative graphics and strong images throughout. To emphasise Flame UK’s recycling expertise and innovation, we changed the dominant colour in the company’s visual identity (including the logo) from orange to green. The overall effect is fresh, modern and engaging.


Rich content.

The final piece of the jigsaw was the written content. At the outset, we worked closely with Flame UK to agree a new, stronger narrative for the company. This highlighted its special dual role -A specialist consultancy, assessing and improving waste management practices. A one-stop shop, sourcing the right teams and equipment for waste handling of any size and complexity. The narrative informed the content of every page. A strong story-telling element constantly promotes Flame UK’s expertise and the benefits it brings. This was reinforced by case studies written in collaboration with some of Flame’s customers, showing the measurable positive difference Flame has made to their waste management.


Completing the job.

The New Fat team handled every aspect of this website development – mapping, designing, building, writing, designing, testing and launching. We also carried out extensive SEO research, identifying the key words and phrases used by people looking for waste management services. These were embedded in text across the entire site, to enhance its visibility on Google and other platforms.
